The PhD Summer School on Lot Sizing will take place immediately before IWLS 2026, from August 23 to 25, 2026, at the workshop venue. The summer school is designed to provide current PhD students and early-career researchers (those who earned their PhD within the past three years) with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of lot sizing while engaging directly with the broader IWLS community. Specificaly, the program aims to provide extensive lectures and engaging discussions on core and emerging topics, including polynomially solvable lot-sizing problems, extended reformulations and valid inequalities, heuristic solution approaches, integrated lot-sizing and scheduling, production and inventory routing problems, lot sizing for energy applications, and stochastic lot-sizing problems.

Those who intend to participate the PhD summer school must submit a short description (maximum 1,000 characters) of their thesis/research topics in lot sizing. Please send this via email to edib.gurkan@asbu.edu.tr as soon as possible, and no later than June 15. The themes offered during the summer school will be further refined based on this feedback to match student interests best.

The summer school registration fee is 50 EUR for students and the standard rate for early-career researchers. By June 15, applicants must verify their eligibility by submitting either proof of current student enrollment or evidence that their PhD was awarded within the past three years. This fee includes admission to the main IWLS workshop, which all attendees are highly encouraged to join. Further details regarding the schedule, instructors, and detailed program will be announced soon.
